Oova is here to be your hormone translator. This guide is meant to be a resource for you to get started.
All you need to get started is your mobile phone, Oova test strips, and a cup to collect your urine.
For couples trying to get pregnant through intercourse, Oova provides hormone data in real time. Track and predict ovulation to optimize timing.
People with reproductive health conditions like PCOS can use Oova to track hormone changes while trying to conceive or managing symptoms.
Individuals can use Oova to better understand their cycle and hormone changes while working under the care of a doctor.
Once you've created your account, the app will guide you through a brief questionnaire that should only take a few minutes to complete.
If you are working with a provider, you'll have the chance here to enter their clinic name to share your data.
The Oova Fertility Hormone Kit comes with 15 strips to measure LH and PdG (a urinary metabolite of progesterone) together, and 15 strips to measure E3G (a urinary metabolite of estrogen).
The Oova App will let you know when it's time to start scanning and which test strips you'll need based on where you are in your cycle.
Select the best scanning plan for you. We offer a variety of pre-set scanning plans that enable you to create your own distinct scanning schedules depending on your health goal.
This schedule will include the number of days you will need to scan and which hormones you need to scan on each day. This will also allow the app to notify you of your next recommended scan date.
The Today screen will guide you on which tests to use that day. To begin scanning right away, simply tap "Scan Now".
E3G is a urinary metabolite of estrogen and PdG is a urinary metabolite of progesterone.
You can learn more about the role of each hormone on the Oova Blog.
Gather your test strips but only open them when you are ready to test.
Collect urine in a cup and dip the test strip(s) into the urine. Hold the strips in the urine until you see liquid traveling up the window (it can take 15-25 seconds).
Wait 10 minutes for the test to fully run. Then follow the prompts in the app to begin scanning your tests. Align the test strip with the outline and view your results!
Once you've completed your first day of scanning, you'll be able to see your results for the day.
Here’s what to expect when you complete your first day of scanning:
If your LH levels is less than 25 mIU/L, and your E3G is less than 150 pg/mL, you will receive a "Low Hormone Levels" status. If you are trying to conceive, this means that your fertility is low.
If your E3G is over 150 ng/mL you will get an “Elevated E3G” status. This may be a sign that you are approaching ovulation.
Look out for a rise in LH over the next couple of days which may indicate ovulation. If you're trying to conceive, we recommend starting to have sex every other day.
If your LH is elevated above 25 mIU/L you will receive an “Elevated LH” status.
If LH continues to rise, it may indicate ovulation. Oova will confirm ovulation if your PdG levels also rise over the next few days.
If you're trying to conceive, continue to have sex every other day.
If your LH is above 40 mIU/L, you will receive a “Peak LH” status, this could be a sign that you are ovulating. If you are trying to get pregnant, this is when your chances of conceiving are highest.
Oova will confirm ovulation if thereis a rise in PdG over the next 2-4 days.
If Oova detects a PdG rise after your LH surge, you will receive a post-ovulation status. The app will tell you how many days you are post-ovulation.
If you have logged period flow the Today screen will tell you how many days ago your period started. Oova recommends you do not scan on period days but still log any symptoms you experience.
Visit our Support Center to learn more about how to log your period.
After you have scanned for multiple days you will be able to see your hormone trends over time. This is where you’ll see the most value in Oova’s data.
Observing how each of your hormones fluctuates over time alongside your logged symptom data can help you understand how your hormones over time affect how you feel day-to-day.
You can also use these charts to check for ovulation. If you see an increase in E3G and LH (even if the rise is small) followed by an increase in PdG, chances are you have ovulated successfully.
After you've scanned with Oova for a cycle, we recommend scheduling a call with an Oova expert. A member of our team will walk you through your results and help you understand your next steps.
